Holiday Activities at The Cave, Tyne Dock

These sound fun.  Lots for youngsters to do, sadly I’m a little too old!

Week 1 – Tues 31st July and Thurs 2nd August, 11am – 1pm – Music workshops in the recording studio with Sam Burt. Open to ages 13-18 years.

Week 2 – Tues 7th August, 10am-12pm – Break-dancing with Bad Taste Cru. Open to ages 9-16 years.

Thurs 9th August, 12pm – 2pm – street funk dance with Garner Harris. Open to ages 9-16 years.

Week 3 – Tues 14th August, 10am – 2pm – drama and physical theatre workshop. Open to ages 11-16 years.

Thurs 16th August, 12pm – 2pm – stage make-up workshop with Kate Pymm. Open to ages 11-16 years.

Week 4 – Tues 21st August – 12pm – 2pm, graffiti workshop with Newline graffiti. Open to ages 11-18 years.

Tues 21st August – 10am – 2pm – Kite-making workshop. Open to ages 9-16 years.

Thurs 23rd August – 10am – 2pm – comic-book workshop with Art Heroes. Open to ages 9-16 years.

Traquair House, Scotland

Reflective Histories: Contemporary Interventions at Traquair
1 July – 30 September 2012

Scottish Borders historic home, Traquair House near Innerleithen is the inspiration for a groundbreaking contemporary art exhibition opening on July 1st.
Titled “Reflective Histories”, the exhibition features a series of new installations and accompanying print works by seven leading contemporary Scottish artists designed to reflect different aspects of the house’s rich and complex heritage.

The exhibition, which is free with entry to Traquair House, will run until the end of September and is accompanied by a three month long events programme featuring interactive workshops, lectures and demonstrations led by the participating artists.

Eastleigh College

A word of warning.  I went on Saturday last year, it was a nightmare!  Parking is abysmal and the exhibition was full of students milling around waiting to take their pieces home.  Avoid if you can and go on Thursday or Friday.  I’m learning by my mistake.
